What Forest Pack and RailClone do
Forest Pack
Forest Pack is iToo Software's scattering plugin for 3ds Max. It distributes objects — trees, grass, crowds, rocks, debris — across a surface or path, using rules for density, orientation, collision, and camera-based culling. Instead of storing every instance in the scene file, Forest Pack stores the distribution logic plus references to source geometry. Instances are generated when the render engine asks for them.
RailClone
RailClone is iToo's parametric modeling plugin. It builds repeating structures — railings, fences, facade panels, road barriers, modular interiors — from a style definition and a spline. Like Forest Pack, it stores parameters and source objects rather than final geometry. The modular mesh is reconstructed at render time.
On a cloud render farm, Forest Pack and RailClone are operationally one workload: same library, same license chain, same late-binding geometry model. Our fleet supports them together, and this page treats them as a single workflow.
Why cloud rendering fits Forest Pack workloads
1
Per-frame geometry generation is CPU-heavy
Forest Pack spends 15–90 seconds per frame expanding scattered instances before the render engine starts sampling. On a cloud fleet, those frames distribute across independent nodes so a 240-frame animation that takes 9 days on one workstation can finish overnight.
2
Scatter-heavy scenes push BVH memory higher
Forest Pack inflates the effective poly count of a scene by 10× or more. Our CPU nodes carry 96–256 GB RAM to accommodate the larger BVH acceleration structures that V-Ray, Corona, and Arnold need to traverse scattered vegetation.
3
Late-binding geometry requires plugin-ready nodes
Forest Pack and RailClone only evaluate if the render node has a compatible plugin build and an active iToo license. Every node on our fleet has both, installed and version-pinned across the entire cluster.
All render licenses are bundled — V-Ray, Corona, Arnold, Redshift, Octane, Cycles, plus all DCC apps. No license servers, no Multi-User Licenses, no per-seat fees. Render with our licenses.

What artists ship with Forest Pack + RailClone on Super Renders Farm
Why Forest Pack + RailClone artists choose Super Renders Farm
01
Forest Pack + RailClone pre-installed and covered
iToo Software's Forest Pack and RailClone are installed on every CPU node and license-covered as part of the render node — not a per-job activation. Scatter scenes submit without a freeze-to-mesh step.
AXYZ design's anima crowd library and MetropoliX populated city models render with their assets resolved. Forest Pack scatter referencing AXYZ posed characters works as authored.
03
Plays nicely with V-Ray + Corona + Arnold
Forest Pack instancing is evaluated by V-Ray, Corona, and Arnold engines on the render node. RailClone parametric arrays render as live geometry — no proxy roundtrip needed.
04
Per-frame billing from $0.004/GHz-hour
Standard tier. CPU pool with 96–256 GB RAM per node holds dense scatter scenes (millions of instances) comfortably without paging out.
Pre-render validation
Pre-render validation — every job, before credits run
Most submitted scenes have at least one issue our pre-render validation catches — broken external references, missing textures, bad output paths, or camera configuration errors. We surface these before render starts, so you don't pay for failed frames. For DCC plugin submissions (Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, C4D), validation runs locally before upload. For web-submitted scenes, it runs on our side before the job enters the render queue.
Asset paths resolved
Every texture, proxy, and reference is verified reachable on the render node before the first sample fires.
Camera output set
Resolution, frame range, output path, and AOV stack are confirmed against your scene file — no surprise empty MultiPart EXR.
License reachability
Engine licenses are confirmed on the assigned node before credits deduct. V-Ray, Redshift, Corona, Octane, Arnold all check pass / fail visibly.
Scene compatibility
Renderer version, plug-in versions, and required add-ons are matched against the node's installed stack. Mismatch → swap-to-compatible-node, not an error.
Drag-and-drop scenes up to 200 GB. Resumable transfer over our BBRv3-tuned channel.
2
We validate your scene
Pre-render validation flags asset paths, camera output, license reachability, scene-version compatibility before credits start.
3
Submit your render job
Per-frame billing. Choose Standard, Fast, or Fastest tier. Live progress per frame.
4
Get your results
Download finals or sync to your bucket. EXR, MP4, image sequence — your call.
Forest Pack scatter rules (density, slope filter, area exclusion, color-from-map) evaluate per frame on each render node — no scatter bake required. RailClone parametric arrays (Style + Generator + segment libraries) render as live geometry. AXYZ posed and animated characters resolve through the AXYZ design plug-in we keep installed.
Documentation
Set up Forest Pack + RailClone faster — read the guides
Super Renders Farm installs and licenses both iToo plugins on every render node, and has done so since 2017. You upload your .max file and the scatter geometry evaluates on our side — you do not provide an iToo serial or install anything yourself.
No. Forest Pack and RailClone are pre-installed and license-covered on every render node. You submit your 3ds Max scene and the plugin evaluates at render time.
Our fleet currently supports 3ds Max 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 with Forest Pack 9.4.0+ and RailClone 7.3.0+ builds. See the supported-software matrix on this page for the current combinations.
Yes. Forest Pack and RailClone render with V-Ray, Corona, and Arnold on our CPU nodes, and with Redshift and Octane on our RTX 5090 GPU nodes. The plugin itself is engine-agnostic — the render engine determines whether the job lands on CPU or GPU hardware.
Our support team will flag a version mismatch before the job starts and help you either step your local plugin version or pick a compatible fleet configuration. We coordinate fleet updates with iToo's and Autodesk's release windows so the matrix stays current.
No. Every node carries an active iToo render-node license, so Forest Pack and RailClone evaluate at full instance counts with no watermarks. The "missing vegetation" failure mode only happens on farms without plugin licensing.
Forest Pack scenes use the same per-frame pricing model as any other 3ds Max render — no plugin surcharge. Per-frame cost depends on the render engine (CPU vs GPU), scene complexity, and node class. See our per-frame pricing page for current rates.
