Causes:

Texture bitmaps being pulled from mapped network drives may cause time-out issues during the “geometry processing” part of the Octane render, causing the renderer to crash.

3ds Max will disappear immediately and not send a CER (customer error report).

Solution:

To mitigate these issues, try the following:

  1. Use the File > Archive Function or the Command Panel > Utilities > Resource Collector menu to gather and zip up all bitmap assets used in the scene.
  2. Unzip these files to a folder on the local PC.
  3. Use the 3ds Max File > References > Asset Tracking Toggle menu to re-path the scene bitmap assets to the local PC folder.
