OTOY has announced the release of OctaneRender 2024.1. Key highlights include a new post-FX shader graph system with support for OSL and texture nodes within the AOV compositor, as well as powerful denoising AOV nodes for both GPU and CPU. These features allow for granular control of denoising and custom compositing effects.
Apple M3 and M4 users will see notable speed boosts with ray-tracing hardware acceleration, achieving up to 12x performance increases in specific scenarios. The update also includes a new geometry pipeline designed to reduce memory usage and improve performance across platforms, including network rendering between CUDA and Metal GPUs. MetalRT hardware acceleration has been enhanced for improved motion blur and better performance in static scenes.
Additionally, OctaneRender 2024.1 introduces support for additional UV sets in bump mapping, vertex colors in OBJ files, and a new ORBX referencing system to streamline scene management. The release also includes optional crash reporting and statistics collection to assist with ongoing improvements.
