Issue:
When opening scenes from a network location (such as a RAID), 3ds Max takes an unusually long time to load the MAX file.
For example, a smaller scene may take 20-30 minutes to open when pulled across a network environment.
Causes:
Includes, but is not limited to:
- Updates needed to the Operating System.
- Updates needed to the Network.
- Updates needed to Antivirus / Firewall.
- Bitmap assets are not using UNC Paths.
- Some iToo Forest Pack assets may cause slowdowns from a network setting.
Solution:
It is important to note that Autodesk cannot assist with the configuration of individual company networks.
The first solution is to work with your company Information Technology (I.T.) department to resolve any transfer speed issues across the network.
Should connection speeds for the network seem to be correct, see the following article to help resolve the issue: How to work with 3ds Max across a network and cloud environment
