Issue:
When launching Maya or Maya LT 2023, it is stopped with the following error.
Maya has stopped working
An error has stopped Maya from working properly. Maya is attempting to
recover your work and will close soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.
We have saved a recovered version of the file you were working on here:
C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\xxxxxxx
Causes:
- Corrupted Preferences.
- Corrupted Projects folder.
- Graphics compatibility issues.
- Corrupted installation.
Solution:
Corrupted Preferences
Reset Maya preferences as per: How to reset the Maya Preferences to Default.
Corrupted Projects folder
- Go to Projects folder location: C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\documents/maya/projects
- Rename “Projects” folder to “ProjectsOLD”.
- Launch Maya, a new “Projects” folder should automatically be created.
- Verify product works as intended.
Graphics compatibility issues

Corrupted installation
Clean reinstall the product as per: How to perform a Clean Uninstall of Autodesk products on Windows.
