Issue:
When attempting to run an update on an Autodesk product the installation fails with the following message:
Unable to install
A required install component is missing or corrupted.
Error 3051
Causes:
- Installation of an update is being attempted when the main version of the software is not installed.
- Older, unsupported version of Autodesk Installation Service.
- Autodesk Installation Service not installed on the system or if the service binaries got corrupted.
Solution:
Verify that the main version of the software is installed
Before applying any updates, check whether the main version of the software you are trying to install is already installed in the system.
If the software is installed, try to uninstall and reinstall it to do a sort of “repair” of the installation that could have been somehow corrupted.
